Watson Report Shows Increase In Number Of Homes Sold Compared To Last Year
Watson Realty Corp. statistics for homes sold year to date are out and the numbers are much higher than last year. As compared with the October 2008 report year to date, 2009 shows an increase of 44% in overall units sold in the Orlando area. Looking at October alone, there was a jump of 97% from October of last year; 270 units sold in 2008 compared to 535 units sold in 2009.
“The numbers are very encouraging,” shared Ken Bennett, Central Florida Regional Vice President.
The numbers for Watson’s other two regions – from St. Marys, Georgia to Gainesville, Florida showed increases as well. Just for the month of October, the Jacksonville Region showed a 23% increase in units sold and the North Central Region, including St. Augustine and Palatka recorded a 73% increase. Overall, the company reports a combined 82% increase in October sales as compared to the same month last year.
Bennett credits the rise in numbers to stabilization in home inventory available, the $8,000 tax credit available for first-time home buyers, as well as company sales incentives programs such as the recent “Watson World Series.”
Volume numbers increased as well. The company again cleared over 2 Billion in volume sales with combined listings and sales numbers showing a 13% increase from 2008.
